Did any of you watch the 1969 moon landing live (as it was happening) on TV & what are your memories?

I watched with my two-year old on my lap. I wanted him to be able to say that he saw it while it was actually happening. Even though he was so young, he still remembers it.

Yes I watched it with Mum, Dad and brother. I was a teenager and we all stayed up really late! I couldn't wait for the first astronaut to come out of the craft and stand on the moon. I have always looked at the moon differently after that. It was SO exciting at the time.
We watched history in the making.

Our little family watched on Australian TV so didn't have to stay up after hours.
Yep I watched it, I heard the immortal words at the same time as everyone for the first time. I was young but I knew the significance and it started a life long love of the whole space program. Even now I'm reading, Failure is not an option, by the legendary Gene Kranz. Those guys were the best we humans have and they didn't let us down. Magnificent.
No was watching the other side what happened .
watched in school..headmaster cancelled lessons for the entire school and had a big screen put up so we could all watch as it happened
It was first event I ever remember on television.
I was 4 years old.
My missus is not convinced it was real. A conspiracy.
There you go!
Yes, watched it and marvelled at it.
Apologies for minor derailment, First Man opens on Friday, can’t wait, looks fantastic:

Was 18, wouldn't have missed it for anything.
From what i can gather, Columbia landed at about 20:17, our time (The Eagle has landed), but Neil Armstrong didn't set foot on the moon until 02:56 our time, (One small step...............). Which means that a few of you have false memories. I remember watching it on the news the day after - 1 was 14.
We watched it - it happened to be my 24th birthday when Armstrong stepped onto the moon, so I'm not likely to forget the date.
Stayed up most of the night to watch it LIVE - I remember it as a very impressive broadcast.

I felt a special affinity because the launch took place on my birthday (27)
KEN, those times are GMT and it was British Summer Time for the whole of '69 meaning the walk was at 3:56 in the morning in the UK.

Okay, Corby. There was no 24 hour tv in the UK in those days so i'm convinced we all had to wait for the news programmes the following day?
What is the 'disagreement ' as to what Armstrong said or didn't say?
really ? I always assumed we were watching it live that day ... must have been a special thingy the telly did as we were glued to it all day
//The actual night of the moon landings on 20/21 July was also historic for British TV, as it was the first-ever all-night broadcast on British television, with both BBC1 and ITV remaining on air for 11 hours from 11.30 p.m. on 20 July to 10.30 a.m. the following morning. //
