Apologies if already a topic but I just heard he is retiring from the today programme.Perhaps now with some time on his hands he could be persuaded to do Eggheads as well as Mastermind. He certainly be an improvement on that slime ball who does it now.

I really don;t like him at all.

His use of 1950's bakalite headphones irritates me, as does his barking interuptions, and his stupid comb-over on Mastermind.

I will not miss him at all.
I'm sure the BBC will have a replacement all ready and raring to go.

Not enough shrill/grating women on the radio these days.
Slime ball ?

That's not very nice.

My comment may have been understood.I was not running down John Humphrys it was Jeremy Vine who I was referring to.He really is sycophantic towards those eggheads and should be replaced immediately.
Agree grumpy, the presenter is one of the reasons I stopped watching Eggheads - his nose is so brown! Having said that I love his show on Radio 2.
Cannot stand JV he has ruined Eggheads for me. Why does he say the same things over and over again ad nauseum. Always laughs at his own "jokes". Just as well, nobody else does.
Prefer The Chase nowadays. At least Bradley has some personality.
I could never understand why Jeremy Vine replaced Jimmy Young on the midday Radio 2 programme. His complete lack of knowledge about anything irritates me and he can't keep control of a discussion between two people with opposing views.
It wouldn’t matter who presented Eggheads. The multiple choice format ruins it for me. Multiple choice is the curse of the modern age :-)
Does the name Eamon Andrews bring back happy memories to some?
Am I allowed to shout "Crackerjack"?
I remember Eamon Andrews, wasn't he a ventriloquist's dummy?
Nice one sqad as you well know that was Archie Andrews and what fools we were listening to a ventriloquist on the radio.
LOL LOL...i know Jordy.......;-)
I remember jimmy young when he sung the man from Laramie and unchained melody he was rubbish.
Jordy - yes, he was, but he was a good radio presenter.
Yes I agree with you bhg481,he was a good presenter and seemed a nice man ,did he have a catch phrase or have I got that wrong?
I think he always signed off with "TTFN".
That’s it thanks ta ta for now, sorry for the take over grumpy 01,

Jimmy Young was one of us Foresters and is well remembered here.
So grumpy01 was he a nice man as he seemed to come over as such?
