I didn't find him funny back in the day, but I do find his ISB show to be wise and amusing, probably because he dials the delivery down from eleven to a more manageable 4 or 5. I interviewed him once back in the '80's, off-stage he was very softly spoken and reflective, the polar opposite of his on-stage persona.
