I doubt very many people that appear on the show would pay for repairs - it would be far too expensive. Good advertising for the experts who mostly have their own businesses and a lovely, relatively cheap show for the BBC which has proved to be very popular.
Ive wondered the same. I’d expect they do, without the items people bring in there wouldn’t be a programme. And obviously..well, obvious to me..the repairers will get paid by the tv people.

I have the lid of an antique ginger jar which came from my grandparents, broken into about 20 pieces and glued together by my father, which I’d love to have properly repaired. Doubt they’d be interested in anything so mundane though.
