Visitors to that site are generally looking for accommodation in tents or caravans. So people who prefer to stay in more expensive accommodation, or those who simply enjoy day trips, won't have contributed to the list.
Southend, for example, is largely a day-trip destination for Londoners, with very few campsites in the area.

Well I find the time to visit Tenby every year gollob and few places can beat it. Tenby knocks Southend, Clacton, Great Yarmouth, Margate and Southport into a cocked hat and we've visited all of them in the last 15 years or so. Tenby is after all in Pembrokeshire, the "little England beyond Wales" which partially accounts for the English returning to the Welsh town time and time again. Tenby can't be beaten as a seaside resort in my view.
Well Brighton is certainly popular (especially if you are a gay man - the place is swinging). St Ives is nice in the summer but when the South East contingent have left, turned off their Agas and put their Cath Kidston oven gloves away in the drawers at the holiday home for another year, the place is dead. Same goes for Newquay. Tenby is nice though. It is a bit like Bath by the sea.
