New 3 part series of Van Der Valk starting on Sunday. I'll definitely be watching, loved the original series and the theme music Eye Level by the Simon Park Orchestra.

First time I tried to learn when I started playing cornet. I gave up after a while as I was terrible. Couldn’t really get the hang of reading music.
Tune, not time.
Looking forward to it....mainly because I love Amsterdam.
Not sure how Marc Warren will suit the role - I always find him a bit "odd".
Apparently they're not using the original theme tune, which I think is a shame. It was a great series. Will watch and hope!
That’s a real shame. ‘Eye Level’ was a great signature tune. I bought the record and still have it.

The two of us will certainly be watching on Sunday.
Re makes of popular programmes don't really work , do they

Love Amsterdam, but not keen on Marc Warren, having seen him in The Musketeers and Hustle. Will give it, oh, fifteen minutes.
Der der der dum diddy dum diddy bum bum bum, ta rara ra rum diddy bum tum tum...
According to an article I read in the Radio Times this series will have nothing in common with the original and does not adhere to the books. It will be set in Amsterdam, there is a detective of that name but that is all the two have in common
I liked the theme tune and I thought Barry Foster was very good in it.
I met him in the Rose and Crown Pub (Youngs)many times when I lived in Wimbledon. I was supposed to be going to Holland next month with my mates. :-(
I do wonder the point of 're-making' anything when it bears no resemblance to the original beyond the name.

Fans of the original series will be confused by the fact that aside from the name, and being set in Amsterdam, it has nothing to do with the original, and people too young to remember the original will have no reference point, so will simply see a new detective series, so they might as well have called it 'Monkfish'.
I do think that people who are expecying something similar to the old VdeV are under a misapprehension

If so they are in for a serious disappointment.

No familiar theme, no Barry Foster, just some anodyne blond guy who bears no resemblance to anything the original series had.

The could at least have brought John Actor in for the lead role!
After 28 years since the last one, I'll happily tune in with no comparisons in mind.
The old ones are on Talking Pictures TV (Channel 81 Freeview, Channel 306 Freesat, Channel 328 Sky and Channel 445 Virgin) on Friday evenings at 9pm.
I think that a-h's comment "anodyne blond guy" does Marc Warren an injustice....he's a well-known TV and film actor, probably better known than Barry Foster was at the time.
And, for the record, I enjoyed it (making a comparison to the original series would be pointless).
Was really looking forward to it as a new drama, keeping an open mind.
Lasted half an hour of the first episode. I didn't take to any of the characters and the storyline didn't grab me.
Very disappointed.
