Dr Ravi Zacharias has died from cancer.
He will be very much missed by those hungering for solid Christian teaching.
Rest in peace Ravi.

AH, //Why would anyone 'hunger' for any kind of teaching?// To remedy ignorance. //'it's all in the Bible' -and I can read - why would I need someone else's interpretation which is no more or less valid than mine?// For your opinion to be valid you would need to read the bible, as Dr Ravi Zacharias has. You haven’t. Therefore his opinion is more valid than yours....

surely you don't mean rest in peace? Surely you mean travel safely to heaven?
Why would anyone 'hunger' for any kind of teaching?

I am advised that 'it's all in the Bible' -and I can read - why would I need someone else's interpretation which is no more or less valid than mine?
Never heard of him. RIP regardless.
If this gentleman was spreading God's 'word', you'd think God would cut him a little slack - maybe have him die of a very old age peacefully in his bed?

Or, if he has to die as part of God's 'plan', why not have him run over by a bus?

What sort of God has a person spreading his message die of a disease that slowly and painfully devours him from the inside out, suffering every second of the time it took him to die?

If that's your God Theland, you can see why I remain unimpressed that he is worthy of my worship.
Jesus-effing-Christ, I couldn't give a damn about religion, but a man has died of cancer. Have a little empathy instead of using his passing to crap over Theland's beliefs.

I would've thought you were better than that.
In hindsight, "Jesus-effing-Christ" was a poor choice of exclamation for that post.
Mozz - // Jesus-effing-Christ, I couldn't give a damn about religion, but a man has died of cancer. //

I am aware of that, and I believe that he deserved better from a God he lived and died promoting.

// Have a little empathy instead of using his passing to crap over Theland's beliefs. //

Theland trumpets his beliefs on here on a virtually daily basis - and it is the duty of any Christian to defend and promote God's word to unbelievers like me - so I am giving him the option to do so, if he feel like it.

// I would've thought you were better than that. //

I am - I absolutely am, every minute of every faithless day.
Mozz - // In hindsight, "Jesus-effing-Christ" was a poor choice of exclamation for that post. //

Doesn't bother me in the slightest - he's not the son of my god, and any believers are mandated to turn the other cheek.
How low.

RIP Ravi.
Mamya - // How low. //

What exactly is 'low'?

I think pondering the miserable and painful death of a man devoted to serving a God who I am sure he believed was a good God, is a valid point for discussion - if you don't that's fine, but putting forward a question about it is not 'low', it's how debates work.
Any opportunity eh Andy?

Pathetic.
Maybe he doesn't want to rest? I told the vicar who conducted my Mum's service that once her arthritis was fixed and her eyesight was fixed, she would be up and making stuff and not want to rest in peace at all.

WHEN Earth’s last picture is painted, and the tubes are twisted and dried,
When the oldest colours have faded, and the youngest critic has died,
We shall rest, and, faith, we shall need it –lie down for an aeon or two,
Till the Master of All Good Workmen shall set us to work anew!

And those that were good shall be happy: they shall sit in a golden chair;
They shall splash at a ten-league canvas with brushes of comets’ hair
They shall find real saints to draw from – Magdalene, Peter, and Paul;
They shall work for an age at a sitting and never be tired at all!

And only the Master shall praise us, and only the Master shall blame;
And no one will work for the money, and no one will work for the fame,
But each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star,
Shall draw the Thing as he sees It for the God of Things as They are!
Woofgang, as a proud geek, that reads to me that we're initially getting judged by The Doctor's archnemisis, and ends with drawing a sketch of the orange bricked Fantastic Four superhero.
whatever rocks your boat
Mozz - // Any opportunity eh Andy? //

To start an exchange of ideas? Absolutely. That's what makes the world go round.

// Pathetic. //

Whatever.
It's not an exchange of ideas though is it? It's just you derailing a thread paying respect to a man who has passed away, in order to belittle Theland's faith.

Knock yourself out, I'm done.
A-H, where does the 'It is the duty of any Christian to defend and promote God's word to unbelievers like me...' come from? This is completely unknown to me. Is it just your opinion? If so, you can hardly use it as your suggested basis for 'opening a debate'.

I am making a legitimate point about the dichotomy between worshiping a 'loving God' and one of his obviously devoted followers dying a painful death, without intervention.

It has nothing to do with 'belittling' anything, and I( am sure that Theland will be up to arguing his position as a Christian if he chooses to do so.

// Knock yourself out, I'm done. //

Bye then.
Never - // A-H, where does the 'It is the duty of any Christian to defend and promote God's word to unbelievers like me...' come from? This is completely unknown to me. Is it just your opinion? If so, you can hardly use it as your suggested basis for 'opening a debate'. //

I don't believe it is 'just' my opinion - I honestly believe that it is beholden to any Christian as deeply committed as Theland is, to argue his points in favour of his belief.

Experience on here proves that there is never any need to prod Theland into such action, he puts forward his views by starting threads on a virtually daily basis, although to be honest, he does tend to get fed up and absent himself until his threads die a natural death.

To reiterate, I believe my point is a fair one - a god that is constantly worshipped and revered allows yet another good and faithful believer die a dreadful painful death, and I think that is something that bears debating - if Theland or any other Christian cares to join in, let's see where it goes.
Thanks, A-H. I think your belief is only that, 'your belief' and certainly not the belief of any body, organisation, church. I think I'd struggle to find a Christian who would come out with such a lofty pronouncement - and I'm sure that they would at least attempt to justify it. If you are going to adopt certain stances, it is not beholden on Theland - or anyone - to try to convince you of anything.
