Dr Ravi Zacharias has died from cancer.
He will be very much missed by those hungering for solid Christian teaching.
Rest in peace Ravi.

AH, //Why would anyone 'hunger' for any kind of teaching?// To remedy ignorance. //'it's all in the Bible' -and I can read - why would I need someone else's interpretation which is no more or less valid than mine?// For your opinion to be valid you would need to read the bible, as Dr Ravi Zacharias has. You haven’t. Therefore his opinion is more valid than yours....

Never - // If you are going to adopt certain stances, it is not beholden on Theland - or anyone - to try to convince you of anything. //

I am not suggesting that it is - but Theland opened the thread, and I pointed out that anyone who reads the Bible should be able to find everything in it - and that is not my view, it is Theland's - so I think it reasonable to question him on it.

Similarly, I pointed out, and I am repeating myself again here - that a good honest believer has died a horrible death, and I wonder who fellow believers reconcile that.

I usually get something about 'man's free will' which you will not be surprised to read, does not cut it even slightly for me.

But as I say, anyone is welcome to offer a view - I am an atheist, I have absolutely no issue with the horrors of the world, bad things happen, that's it.

But to anyone who believes in a loving and forgiving God, must ask themselves why this man had to suffer an agonising drawn-out death - and that is the question I am asking.

I am not having a pop, or demeaning anything, I am asking a question.

This I The Answerbank - it's kinda the idea around here.
I think most of us are bright enough to distinguish between a question and an RIP.
Mamya - // I think most of us are bright enough to distinguish between a question and an RIP. //

Nothing is set in stone apart from Site Rules.

If I am prompted to ask a question based on something I read, then I am entitled to do so.

If Theland had written - 'This is an RIP only, and no questions are invited ..' then fine, but he didn't so like anything anyone posts anywhere on the site, it is open to question and debate.
A-H,'I am not suggesting that it is...' v 'It is beholden on Theland to argue his points...' … I am now a little confused.

Theland hadn't made any points, you were the one scrabbling around and making lofty assertions.
II'd go and pop the kettle on Andy, you are starting to sound a little foolish now.

It's OK, I'm all grown up, I can live with it.
Never - // A-H,'I am not suggesting that it is...' v 'It is beholden on Theland to argue his points...' … I am now a little confused. //

A fair point - the penalty for watching a DVD and dipping in and out is the occasional lapse in concentration - guilty as charged.

// Theland hadn't made any points, you were the one scrabbling round and making lofty assertions. //

He hasn't that's true - but I am not 'scrabbling around' as you put it - I have raised two points which I believe are valid and which may or may not draw a response from Theland when he returns.

I don't think my assertions were 'lofty' particularly, but if you do, that's fine by me.
Thanks, A-H. I'm sorry, but 'it is beholden on any Christian...' is one of the loftiest pronouncements I've seen on here, and as you'll know, there have been many!

No need to apologise.

If you think that is one of the 'loftiest pronouncements', I suggest you are not a regular on this section - do you read the posts of our devout colleagues?
AH, //Why would anyone 'hunger' for any kind of teaching?//

To remedy ignorance.

//'it's all in the Bible' -and I can read - why would I need someone else's interpretation which is no more or less valid than mine?//

For your opinion to be valid you would need to read the bible, as Dr Ravi Zacharias has. You haven’t. Therefore his opinion is more valid than yours.

Your posts here are bad form.
A-H, your suggestion, like your earlier assertion, is wrong. Yes, I have read the posts from what you call 'devout colleagues'.
Whole again now Ravi.
It's a unusual occurrence to be sure, but I absolutely agree with everything you wrote there Naomi. Thank you.
My pleasure.
naomi - // AH, //Why would anyone 'hunger' for any kind of teaching?//

To remedy ignorance. //

I think you are aware that I was referring specifically to the need for teaching about Christianity, when Theland and others have advised more than once that the answers are contained in the bible.

//'it's all in the Bible' -and I can read - why would I need someone else's interpretation which is no more or less valid than mine?//

For your opinion to be valid you would need to read the bible, as Dr Ravi Zacharias has. You haven’t. Therefore his opinion is more valid than yours. //

There you go again with your lofty assumptions that you know what I have read, or not read.

You cannot possibly know if I have read the bible or not, so your assertion is nonsense.

// Your posts here are bad form. //

Where did you go to school - Mallory Towers?????

If my posts are 'bad form', then your posts are a hoot and a scream.
Mozz - // It's a unusual occurrence to be sure, but I absolutely agree with everything you wrote there Naomi. Thank you. //

Feel free to agree with Naomi, but her baseless assumption that I have not read the bible is wrong, so that makes you wrong as well.
Never - // A-H, your suggestion, like your earlier assertion, is wrong. Yes, I have read the posts from what you call 'devout colleagues'. //

Fair enough, then you know, as I do, that I have by no means cornered the market of 'lofty' observations.

I think naomi is front runner right now, deciding on the basis of no knowledge whatsoever, that she knows what books I have, or have not read.
RIP Ravi.
