I know there are many fans on AB, so a heads-up that a new series starts this evening - BBC2 8:30.

I wonder how long it'll be before the next "water-cooler contestant" appears?...

Pardon my ignorance LIK but what is a "water-cooler contestant"?

Sorry, the phrase just popped into my head - I meant the contestant that everyone talks about the day after they appear.

Oh....I thought you meant the contestant who needs a drink of water after every answer they give!

Lol - that would be a long list :-)
Looking forward to it.
I'd missed that, thank you.
Ta for that, LIK. Must admit, i'd looked to see if anything needing recording while I watched the football and saw nothing. Obviously didn't use both eyes ;-)
So we're on the lookout for the 'dancing eyebrows', the 'fist-pumper', the 'he/she' or 'she/he' or the one who couldn't have made less of an effort if they'd tried in their choice of attire:-)
My alma mater looked pretty good - and no oddballs!
No oddballs? What about Mr Bean and Derek Nimmo?
Lots of compaints today that there was only one female and no black contestants. Universities are sent 'exam' papers and contestants chosen by the amount of right answers. I think certain factions would be happier if questions were dumbed down.
I hope no dumbing down - some difference last night in that Exeter averaged 20 years old and I think Glasgie was closer to 24 what with their Masters and one PhD student....clever though to have an American and Canadian on the team - the American guy was pretty sharp.

Press gang contestants ? Pay contestants to take part?

Get a grip and stop Twittering is my view.
I don't want any dumbing down either. I actually got 85 points last night and am quite pleased with myself though I dare say some of the clever people on here got a lot more
(and the questions weren't that hard last night - or rather, I got the right answers to a fair slew of them.
I think it always helps to have older contestants in your team, and it was unusual for Glasgow to field a team with an average age of (I think) 26, as students tend to go to uni at a younger age in Scotland.
I think we all need to be back at work before a "water cooler contestant " will appear.
