Totally agree Bobbisox1, the characters then were just brilliant! We try and 'catch up' every couple of days. Entertaining and plenty of laughs.

Ah, the good old days ;-)

Question Author
Not so much the good old days Chris, more fun to watch than the rapes, murders and bed hopping of today's soaps
Jim Macdonald last week showing his temper, Maud & Maureen, Raquel, Fred, I say, Fred Elliott, Phyllis & Percy... just so many great characters, I bought the Corrie stamps that the Royal Mail did, but did have an issue with the set that had the bar maids on there is a blonde woman on them, no idea who she is, but didn't think she should have been there, I gather she is new, gave up watching 'new' Corrie years ago, but I thought they should have had Annie Walker or Betty Williams (nee Turpin). I think the days of the real Coronation Street have gone which is a shame, but its nice to escape isn't it? So, who would you like to see return to the Street?
Question Author
Probably Bet Lynch although I doubt she'd be as 'sassy' maybe Raquel but Sarah Lancashire went on to other excellent roles.
I visited the cobbles a few years back , loved it
R Brian.
Question Author
Douglas, he thought he could conquer America did R Brian, how wrong was he ? haha
>>> I gather she is new

She's only been behind the bar of the Rover's Return for two years but she's been in the series for six years (and in nearly 500 episodes), so she's not that 'new' really!

With only 4 stamps, it was probably quite hard to decide who should feature on them. You've mentioned some possibilities, Daz, but what about Vera Duckworth as well?

When you look at the stamps, look at the characters that have been chosen, and the only one who really represents 'new' Corrie is the Gemma character, perhaps that sums up the characters in todays Coronation Street, out of the 20 stamps just one has been recognised, I know you could go on and on with who should be on the stamps but I think the selection is really good apart from the one. I wonder how the selection was made, who gives permission for the images to be used, is it Granada or the actor? Have they been paid? What do they think of being on a stamp? As for who I would like to see back, who is still alive, would be Bet, Raquel and Mavis.
Question Author
I never knew about the stamps
