Is There A Scarves Social Statement ?

We see a lot of Presenters on Outdoor TV Programmes who are wearing, specially knotted, loose fitting scarves.

What is the significance.? Is there any relationship to Rainbow patterned ties.

I watched the TV programme where Monty Don visited in Japan. He wore what I can only describe as a crumpled rag as a scarf throughout. I'll not be wearing a scarf until its weather related.

I often wear a cravat when I wear a sports jacket and flannels don't you know.
That annoying presenter,Robert Preston , often sports a long scarf.loosely fitted, when doing outside broadcasts.
My first cravat was bought from the British Gliding Association when I got my licence in 1966. Still got it and wear it.
