I think I would have chosen american vice presidents .....

when the Hero of Tippeecanoe died after a month in office ( of four years) they didnt know if the VP became president or remained a VP and was an 'acting president'

hence the rather long and ridiculous line of succession
Pres vice pres, speaker of the house, mrs mopp down the road ....
and also if the VP becomes Pres - does the speaker become vice pres?
