Time for us to give our thanks to those people past and present who gave their all for our tomorrow

It makes you realise what a huge part the Sikhs and Jamaicans did as well as other nations, they were happy to fight for Britain , their mother country because of the Commonwealth

Along with folk all over Yorkshire - our house is decorated with flags and poppies and we will be up at the church before 11 a.m. tomorrow. OH is the oldest surviving ex-serviceman in the village and usually carries the flag. That will not happen this year - but we will be there with thanks and remembrance. I have persuaded the church to give its collection box over to the British Legion for 10 days and I hope we'll have a good effort. One can but try. :)

Jourdain that's really lovely, my husband is a RAF veteran we'll be going outside at 11am both tomorrow and Wednesday to observe a 2 minutes silence , we'd normally be at our village cenotaph but we are in different times this year

That was fabulous, Prince Charles' words were very moving (glossing over the slight slip).

The inclusion of one of my favourite poems 'High Flight' by John Gillespie Magee which my Father taught me as a child moved me greatly.

Still teared up with the silent fall of poppies. talked a lot to Mr BM tonight about when I accompanied my late grandfather back to Italy where he fought. I'll never ever forget what I saw in his eyes. Such an honour. So so humbling and moving.

The 75th anniversary aside, to me it’s far more poignant that it’s 100 years since the Unknown Warrior was interred at Westminster Abbey:
