The later series were tedious though. I wonder what would happen today if a man was constantly trying to kiss/grope a woman on a TV programme, sadly probably not allowed yet it doesn't come over as remotely offensive, there is also a lot of what would now be very unwoke humour, luckily my woke-gene doesn't seem to work.
// this is like being made to listen or relisten to golgafrinchan poetry ( douglas adams) //
not sure the golgafrinchans were known for their poetry. the vogons were, but theirs was only the 3rd worst, behind the azgoths of kria (whose poet master was grunthos the flatulent) and paula nancy millstone jennings.
(guess what I've re-watched in the last week...... :-) )

It's lovely to see 'Soap' mentioned on this thread. It was usually hidden away in the TV schedules, often being transmitted fairly late at night, so many people seem to have missed it - but it was wonderful to come home to after a night in the pub. It didn't matter if one's brain was slightly addled by booze because nothing ever made a lot of sense in 'Soap' anyway ;-)
Favourite line from 'Soap' - scene in ‘Soap” which Jessica finds out her nephew Jodie is gay.
“You know, Jodie, when we young, there were no such thing as homosexuals,” says Jessica
“Yes, there were, Aunt Jessica,” Crystal’s character replied. “Homosexuals go way back in history.”
Ms. Helmond: “Who?”
Crystal: “Alexander the Great was gay; Plato was gay.”
Ms. Helmond: “Plato?”
As Crystal nodded, Helmond said, in an alarmed voice: “Mickey Mouse’s dog was gay?
