Channel 5 promos proclaiming Home Alone as “the greatest Christmas movie ever made”. Do you agree and, if not, what would be your choice?

It's a Wonderful Life and Love Actually - although I wish they hadn't included the porn actors' story in Love Actually. It's a great film that leaves everyone smiling but those scenes make it unsuitable for children.

Some excellent but rather obvious choices.
Can’t believe nobody has mentioned Planes, Trains and Automobiles though.
not one of my choices but if you like it...
I love the Santa clause movies.
love actually is one of my all time favourites ,i bought the sound track but was gutted when rob thomas and santana wasn't on it .the music they played when Kris marshall went to america .
i like it to, but its hardly a family film with the naughty bits left in
i like it when they show Wallace and Gromit, always quirky an loveable
Great song, mally :-). I have put this film on since I saw the post, and just got to Hugh Grant dancing to Jump, before he sees Mary watching. Haven't we all done that? :-)
lol i can just imagine you crab walking to the beat lol x
:-))
i think its sad when Emma Thomson realises that her husband has bought her a CD where she was thought he had bought her a beautiful necklace, her face expression was enough to make you weep
that was a bit jumbled, but you know the scene,
Yes. They have a lot of great actors on there.
I always feel sad now when I see the wonderful Alan Rickman.
its a good film, but i will still always go to Its a wonderful life, Christmas or no.
i wept when i saw Truly, Madly deeply recently, sad film.
And Richard Curtis got his traditional "Bernard" jibe in, I thought it had been edited out.
Never seen either of those, emmie.
you should Pixie, wonderful films both, though Truly madly deeply had me in bits.
its not a Christmas film by the way, its too sad.
stickybottle: "Some excellent but rather obvious choices.
