Hi, I'm 15 and in high school. I really only have one friend and I feel like she is beginning to hate me. She no longer talks to me, doesn't respond to text, and so on. My parents both work at the school. My mother is my math teacher while my father is the superintendent. They except perfection. Just the other night my mom told me I wasn't trying hard enough because I now have 3 classes that have a B+. I can tell that I am slowly burning out because I care about others around me before myself. I'm only getting 3 hours of sleep each night, having more panic attacks at random occurrences, and had an increase in depressive thoughts. What's the best thing I can do? I want people to be happy with me but I feel like I'll never be able to please.
If you can't discuss the issue between your friend and you, try to enlarge your circle of friends.
Talk to your parents regarding your lack of sleep and how you feel that the stress caused by their encouragement is causing problems rather than helping.
Teenagers can get depressed. Changes in the body causes disruption but will pass in time.
Whilst its good to think of others, find a better balance between that and pleasing yourself also.
My mother is my math teacher while my father is the superintendent.
You need to discuss your feelings with either your parents or someone you can trust. You need help with the sleeping problems and those depressive thoughts. However, many teenager go through the same thing as those hormones start kicking in. Try not to dwell too much on what others may be doing and thinking.
