I must inform my son he has a 'mental condition'

Insulting much!!
ummm - //
I must inform my son he has a 'mental condition' //

I concede - careless wording - my apologies.
//I am not ignoring her because i think she is too young, I am ignoring her because I think her approach to climate change - as I understand it, is naive in the extreme, but I may be wrong, I honestly lack the will or inclination to explore the subject at all.//

You are dismissing someone because of a preconceived idea based on circumstantial knowledge on your side, without giving them the chance to convince you otherwise. David Attenborough has said similar things about climate change. Would you listen to him instead, or are you going to continue singing "la-la-la" with your fingers in your ears?
pixie - // Andy... it seems only you who isn't focusing on her message... because you are concentrating more on the age of consent (random!). //

It's not the age of consent - she could be ten years old, the point is the same, my perception is that she is maniuplated for her 'novelty' value as a teenager who is being touted as having answers that no-one else has, or that she is listened to by young people simply because she is young herself, and again, that is a facile position to take.

// And deciding she has a mental condition. //

I repeat - careless and unacceptable wording, and again I offer my apologies.
Is that the Kylie version, Mozzarella?
To be fair- everyone in the world has "mental conditions". That's just human... it was the "suffering" that got me...
Just another clumsy use of the English language by our resident journalist.
Thanks, Andy.... so what gives you the impression she is being "manipulated" and doesn't genuinely want this herself?
Mozz - // You are dismissing someone because of a preconceived idea based on circumstantial knowledge on your side, without giving them the chance to convince you otherwise. //

I am dismissing her, because anything she may say that actually chimes with reality and proven science is hidden behind a miasma of hype and grandiose posturing in the way she is presented as a modern day Joan Of Arc.

// David Attenborough has said similar things about climate change. Would you listen to him instead, or are you going to continue singing "la-la-la" with your fingers in your ears? //

David Attenborough has seen more of this planet than most people alive, and has been an informed and deeply knowlegeable scientist for over sixty years, so funnily enough, no I wouldn't.
I'm going to say no, just in case Andy dons gold lamé hotpants.
^ well, I want a link:-)
Zacs - // Just another clumsy use of the English language by our resident journalist. //

I am human, I make mistakes, and I am happy to own up to them and apologise for any harm caused, however uninetntionally.

But I am not yours, or the site's or anyone else's 'resident' anything.
Well, got to be honest Andy, I find that the absolute height of arrogance that you value the messenger above the message. It's rather sad that you have such a closed mind, but I guess that's your prerogative.
It's on the dark web Pix ;-)
Cheers, mozz :-)
pixie - // Thanks, Andy.... so what gives you the impression she is being "manipulated" and doesn't genuinely want this herself? //

I don't think the two things are mutually exclusive - it is possible to want something, but still be manipulated under the guise of support ot obtain it.
You’re looking like the resident court jester at the moment, Andy.

Mozzarella, I don’t think kylie wore the gold hot pants for that tune. Thanks for the image tho!
You spout on about her yet have no interest in hearing or reading her views.
You profess to being or having been a journalist. With so little inquisitiveness about people? That is very unusual.
Mozz - // I find that the absolute height of arrogance that you value the messenger above the message. //

Then your irony is as high as my 'arrogance' - I don't 'value the messenger' at all, which is somewhat the point I am hammering at - that is the entire edifice underpinning Ms Thunburg's public persona - she IS the message - even though she personally may not wish to be.
But why do you think she is being manipulated? (Please answer quietly....I'm watching you on the dark web in gold hotpants).
