who ever thought this was a good idea? (And yes I am a woman!). Radio Five Live have got TWO women commentating and they seem to have forgotten to bother telling us who is actually kicking the ball. Too much nattering about hypothetical situations and they keep missing the vital information on who is getting the ball and what they are doing with it.

Michael Owen is *** as is Jermaine Jenas. (I'm not brave enough to say women are crap too)
They're only copying the male commentators. IMHO, radio commentary long since ceased to give the listener a mental image of what is actually taking place.
That's no limited to women commentators! I don't mind what gender they are as long as they do a good job.
I was watching the Southampton v Burnley match yesterday. In the 85th minute, with the score at 2-2, the commentator and his sidekick (both male) agreed that a draw was a fair result given the performance of both teams. Then, in the next breath, the commentator said the game deserved a winner?
I can't say I've heard any female commentators yet, but on 5Live Alan Green ****! couldn't help but let his venomous pure hatred of Manchester United be known, supposed to be impartial how he kept his job for so long I don't know except it is the BBC.
I wouldn't mind if they spoke properly. West 'am, first 'alf, ge''ing be''er.

Surely 'opinions' should be kept for the after-match analysis, because while the game is on especially on radio coverage we need to know who has got the ball and passing it to who - they can rattle on for ages without concentrating on the actual game. If I want to know what happened ten years ago I can look it up but if I am trying to follow a game in progress I don't want to hear them chatting between themselves and often missing a crucial pass or attempt on goal and its lead up.
I know what you are saying. It is really annoying.
