Does that mean that gay men can't take part in ballroom, because they "should" dance with women? I don't mean in a professional sense...but simply as an enjoyable pastime. The same would apply to lesbians...go find a man to dance with!

Perhaps, as the show is entitled Strictly Ballroom, that's what it should be - Strictly Ballroom. It basically just an enjoyable dancing show with some very good music.

Pasta why sexualise something? I'm sure many GAy men have female friends they enjoy dancing with, just as many straight men may partner up with lesbians. Why, oh why, do these things have to be sexualised? Does it really matter who you prefer having sex with? Its the Esthetics of it and also the fact that someone has to take the 'Male' lead because that's the rules. If Bob and Bert want to trip the light Fandango at the local dance -good on them! But we are talking about a TV show Dancing competition that is supposed to be both entertaining and lovely to look at. And two men doing a waltz just does not look nice.

Quite honestly, I find all the finicky stuff about foot position, where your arms should be, etc, etc very stupid. If the contestants entertain and I enjoy watching them, that's ok with me.

I agree that Dan was fortunate not to be in the dance off and was surprised to see Tilly there.

John and Johannes are so in tune with each other it's almost always a joy to watch - this weekend was no exception. The dance was pared back and very powerful.

If they can give any inspiration to other men then that's an added bonus.

Whoops, of course it was Mamya. But basically ballroom which has strict rules and very obvious male and female roles. It was very much about fluffy dresses and points for perfection. It had is own serious own culture That sort of dancing does look silly to me with same sex partners.

I know Aunt PG. But I just sit back and enjoy (or not) And basically, it's the public in the who judge. The judges are just part of the entertainment!

the prize does not have to be given to the best dancers. the dance may have been your favourite even if it wasnt the most technically accomplished.
being a judge on the show doesnt mean you are correct in who you judge best either - otherwise all judges would give the same scores

I read that Adam Peaty’s Mother has joined in the debate over his dismissal from the show.Well she would say that wouldn’t she I hear you say but she was also as Craig Revell Horwood did questioned why the other couple were in the dance off.She called the programme a”total farce”I think she has a point.

there are other things to enjoy in a dance other than the most technically proficient tho right?
i think about that sports presenter who won the whole comp a few years ago. he was not the best, but his dances were so joyful and fun.
bill bailey was not the best dancer that year, but there was something about his dances that were extraordinary

No, because they get marks for technical merit and marks for presentation. The first is objective the second subjective. Thats why in competitive Ballroom and many other sports like ice skating they have more than one judge.
