choux - // What is there not to like about IAWL? //

Check out the post above yours, which quotes my view on the film - it's rather more a case of what is there TO like about it?
Those are just opposing opinions. Nothing you say about the film will change my mind. Thankfully, we have different souls, a-h.
I've never seen it.
Choux - differing opinions indeed, Vive le difference, but 'soul' has nothing to do with it.
Vive la difference, actually.
Blimey, it was made before i was born!
AH, The Office is a comedy - allegedly. It’s a Wonderful Life has soul.
It's on film4 Tuesday at 13:05.
Make a note of that, anyone who wants to watch or record it.
It's a Wonderful Life is a story that still holds up today. Ignoring it's fantasy and religious overtones, it's a story about a man who at the lowest point of his life finds the strength and courage to keep fighting, overcome his depression and return to his family. It's a joyous movie, with a still relevant moral.

To me, The Office is, and will always be, unwatchable. The American remake is far better.
I love the concept. Without ‘you’ what would have happened to those around you? It’s a big question.
er - I think I tried to watch "it is a wonderful life" many years ago but after some minutes - no I couldn't get on with it. I sort have realised the "backdrop" was "backdrop".

James Stewart was never my favourite actor
pat2604I've never seen it.

Two of us then, Pat.
I've never watched the entire movie either, but here's an interesting piece of trivia regarding it: "Before “It's A Wonderful Life,” Cornflakes painted white were used for snow. "To avoid the “crunch,” Frank Capra used three types of snow in “It's A Wonderful Life”: Ivory soap flakes, chipped ice, and something called foamite, which is similar to what is used in fire extinguishers today."
It'sa lovely film and captivating on so many levels, try to watch when I can even though I rarely re-watch films.

It was actually made before my mum was born!
its my favourite film, its so much more than a Christmas film
I did watch it yesterday on Film 4, and it still makes me weep in parts,
wonderful James Stewart gets my oscar.....
it was made in 1947 and so isn't that old really... i love old films, they have been a passion of mine since a child. And IAWL is top of the bill as far as i am concerned.

It isn’t that old actually, just my mum wasn’t born till 1949 lol.
i watched a documentary about the film, which explained a lot about camera angles and technique and watching more closely as the film unfolds, and i can't get out of my head the Way Jimmy Stewart acts in the scene where his brother comes home with a new bride, knowing that means he will be stuck at the savings and loans for a lot longer than he wanted. Marvellous film
