davebro - // Abigail's Party - never actually showed the "party" in the title. //
Mike Leigh's supremely clever twist - to make the title the least important aspect of the plot, but still everything that happens is a result of its occurrence.
Tonyav - I thought Nuts in May was very good. There was a memorable scene where her partner Keith (Ed Bain?) wouldn’t answer her question until he had finished masticating the food in his mouth the required number of ‘chews’. I think it may have pre-dated Abigail’s Party.
Arrods, I remember when he was down in some kind of hole shouting up to her a very long complicated description of what he had discovered, he went on & on about it, & when he'd finished she shouts down, "Can't hear you". Wonderful!
Yes, remember that Khandro. Everything was very methodical with him - but shown up when the policeman pointed out that he had a suspect tyre on his Morris Minor.
Just watched it right through after a gap of 45 years; absolutely brilliant! Haven't laughed (or cringed) so much for ages, everyone pitch-perfect. And jno, the Beaujolais DID go into the fridge :0)
