Just saw Countdown today with Colin Murray. What a breath of fresh air compared with AR. Was it my imagination or did Rachel seem even more relaxed and chirpy?

I can imagine the absence of Ann Robinson would brighten any studio, and the people in it.

If you employ someone who manages to be both ends of a pantomime horse simultaneously, you must expect it to take its toll on their colleagues, and for them to welcome a change which can't come fast enough.

Sadly too much chat with Rachel and not enough chat with the contestants. At least Anne gave plenty of screen time to them, they seemed to like her.

I'm not so sure about that Barry. I think she unnerved some of them.

Colin Murray is trying too hard to be Mr Smooth .

He needs to moderate his contributions .

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating , with the next long term host .

AR was good for the audience figures , I read somewhere .
At the end of the day that's what matters to the TV bosses

I agree with Barry, the contestants are almost like a second thought. Of course Rachel's happy, the focus is all back on her now. Some of the contestants gave as good as they got.

I would have thought that contestants would want conversation with them kept to a minimum so that they could concentrate on the game and not lose focus. Has anyone on here been on the show?

We record Countdown, Ellie, and manage an episode most days so we're a bit behind.
Anne Robinson was a pain so Dave suggested we skip a few and go to Colin Murray. What a difference!
We really enjoyed Colin Murray's last stint and hope he continues the game as it should be done. Glad to see the back of Anne Robinson.
