Hi I have recently got into only connect. I have noticed that a larger than usual amount of the contestants are in some way slightly different from usual, either in what they say, wear or do. Does this quiz attract slightly odd people, and does that make me slightly odd :)
someone we know was on it, he is extremely clever, a bit eccentric too, but I don't think he could answer one question. "Rabbit in headlights" comes to mind. That's why I won't go on The Chase, although I would like to, as that would be me!
When it first appeared on our screens I was impressed by the programme and became an avid viewer. I agree some competitors looked a bit "non-standard" for want of a better word. But the novelty has worn off a bit and I'm no longer a regular viewer. I think Victoria's jokes put me off a bit - she's nowhere near as funny as her father was.
I love the red herrings on the Wall where entries meet two or more of the categories - good fun trying to peel them apart.
The nearest I get to competing myself is the missing vowels round (all depending what the theme is of course).
And I agree with Rowan, it's great for shouting at the screen :-)

Her one liners are DIRE ! I think she writes them herself, thinking, 'I am going to be discovered one of these days - quiz leddy, poker player and now standup comic !"
Yes I agree.
I like VC as a journalist but her antics on screen irritate me so much I can’t watch the thing any more.
Actually the programme has always irritated the hell out of me but I feel I can’t say so too loudly as I know people who’ve been on it and I wouldn’t want to upset them :-)
Intelligent people are often weird. You need a certain type of lateral thinking brain to be succesful at Only Connect. I am rubbish at it, but weird in other ways
