Hi I have recently got into only connect. I have noticed that a larger than usual amount of the contestants are in some way slightly different from usual, either in what they say, wear or do. Does this quiz attract slightly odd people, and does that make me slightly odd :)
Of course I have noticed this, and so have unkind Twitter users. I think it is lovely that the only requirement to do well in this very difficult quiz is intelligence and not conformity.
I freely admit to being clueless with all but the Wall and Missing Vowels rounds.
I seen one episode where the wall was being attempted.
Can't mind on the words or what the team mate suggested as one of the connexions but the captain responded by saying either she didn't know or hadn't heard of that connexion because, "I'm an adult!"
The thing is, if it weren't for knowing about niche facts, the teams wouldn't get very far so her attitude was terrible.
really cheered by the spare being taken into the team on University Cack up - the old lags. They lost.
Only Connect, they concentrate on eccentricity - and remember so few people can 'do' it, each team has two "goes"
Their achievements are spoof in a studied way: "once talked to someone who cd have been Indira Gandhi's niece" - " asked to stand for the local council but didnt"
I've watched Only Connect from the start and would be greatly offended if anyone deemed me odd. However, Victoria Coren Mitchell and the quiz itself could be regarded as slightly off the wall. I think in order to do well, contestants have to have a certain mindset, if that makes people call them eccentric, so be it. I am very happy if I manage to answer any questions, apart from some groups on the wall and missing vowels.
Whee! Tonight, for the very first time ever, I managed to answer a music starter!!!!!!!! It was the 'I don't know' one. I can't usually make much sense of the snatches of music. :)
