MissT. MrG wouldn't admit he had hearing problems so I started miming. Each time he asked me to repeat I whispered a little more each time but pretended I was shouting.
In the end he had his hearing checked to prove he could hear and that one of us was going mad. He gave in and got hearing aids...bliss. :-)

As I mentioned earlier, Sarah Lancashire hardly opens her mouth when she speaks and I wonder if that is one of the reasons I don't always catch what she says.
When I was growing up, my Mum was slightly hard of hearing, but I found that as long as she could see my mouth and I mouthed my words (not overly) she knew what I was saying.
If anyone speaks like a ventriloquist, I've no chance of knowing what they are saying.
Goodness knows how anyone from other countries can understand her.
Not that that puts me off, I still love her as an actress and will watch anything she appears in, but I'm glad I can put the subtitles on.:-)

Because I couldn't remember what happened in Series 1 and 2, I decided to watch them again and really enjoyed them except, sadly, you can't get the sub-titles on the I-player!!! It was hard work understanding some of the actors particularly Shirley Henderson's character in Series 2. If you could lip read it wouldn't help because she never opened her mouth!!! Looking forward to watching Series 3 WITH THE SUBTITLES ON!!!
