He's just announced that he'll be leaving at the end of March. Very sad - and that will be precisely NO programmes on Radio 2 that I will be listening to.

I do hope that he does take Popmaster with him. Otherwise, it'll be a severe blow to the entire building industry.

"Morning break" was traditionally at 10am until Popmaster. It was then moved to around 10.30.
Customers are generally banned from their own homes at this time.
No intrusion is allowed... not even with cake ... until devotions are complete.
This is serious.

I fear Popmaster might 'belong' to the BBC
The BBC is wilfully determined to follow its own bizarre path, in spite of listeners voting against it by deserting in their droves, to Greatest Hits Radio and Boom Radio.

The simple fact is, there was nothing wrong with the Radio 2 lineup as it was, but 'managers' can never simply leave things alone, otherwise they get awkward questions about what they do all day.

So they have to change things around.

Replacing Steve Wright with Scott Mills meant that they had to offer something 'different' to justify the change, so Mills plays a far higher proportion of dance music and later decade songs, and people switch off and go elsewhere.

The BBC had form - they lost Simon Mayo after their 'diversity' garbage gave him an unwanted and unloved Jo Whiley, and now they are losing other presenters as the station sinks in a swamp of its own stupidity and pig-headedness.

Ken Bruce is saying he is taking Popmaster with him to GHR, so that means he's copyrighted the formula, and can take it when he goes, much as Simon Bates copyrighted the 'Our Tune' format and took it with him when he left Radio One.

If there is a way of copyrighting speaking in such a way that by the time you've reached the end of a sentence, the listeners have forgotten what the beginning was, Scott Mills can copyright that, for when his Radio Two show fails and he gets pushed.
Oh dear! I used to time my drives out to coincide with Ken Bruce and Popmaster.
Please not Zoe Ball to replace him. My car radio will be redundant.
Devastated he was the only one worth listening to on Radio 2, what a shame
goodgoalie, from your own link; "I say brand new show, but there will still be Pop Master, me and my musings and all the great records you know and love from the 70s, 80s and 90s."
Sounds to me as if Pop Master belongs to Mr Bruce :-))
Colverjo - // Please not Zoe Ball to replace him. My car radio will be redundant. //

My money's on 'No longer young, free, or single ... ' Gary Davies.

Couldn't read the whole of my link, Ken, as it blocked me after a few seconds.
The builder; know exactly where you're coming from re the morning 'coffee-break' shifting from 10am to 10.30 am. It did have a domino effect though, as dinner time and afternoon coffee-break were also put back a half hour. The two who worked for me - son and best friend - weren't too bothered about it though as they knew that once the afternoon break was over, they didn't have long to wait until the end of the shift:-)
OH is gutted about this.
gg, just click on 'try later' where it's asking you to subscribe.

It wasn't that, it was ABP :)
Respect to Ken.

You know what I'm sayin'
The only way to go is Boom Radio! It truly is a brilliant station.
bednobs - if you're on the internet, as you patently are, then you can get Virgin

The Government wants to destroy the BBC so that you're only left with stations that peddle pro-right wing propaganda. They've starved the BBC and put in a DG who serves the Government, not us. As they drive out the talent from the BBC, they will destroy it.
I hope it is OJ Both.

Failing that, Greg James would be fine.

I liked Ken, but he's been there an awfully long time. Change isn't always bad, though Scott Mills isn't up to the job.
Bleeding autocorrect.

OJ Borg.
