I've never watched even a single episode but I'm hearing so much praise for it now I'm thinking perhaps I missed something. Did I - and should I watch from the very beginning (if it's available)?

Imo Naomi, you've definitely missed out! All episodes are on iPlayer, starting here - https://tinyurl.com/5yzzzn68

Yes, you really have missed something. If you start now you might just be able to watch all previous episodes before the last-ever one tonight at 9pm......

Thanks very much, LiK. I'll start tonight.

Crikey, gg! I don't think I'll throw myself into it quite that enthusiastically. :o)
You're welcome & if you *don't* enjoy it, I'll eat my hat :-)

Goes to look at prices of hats...
Last episode tonight. I would advise starting at series 1. Yes as Lik says all series available. I'm a bit in love with James Norton, but not his character in this. The acting is brilliant throughout.
I have been wondering exactly the same thing as everyone is talking about it. Didn't realise it started so long ago.
Brilliantly scripted. Brilliantly acted. Dig in, Naomi, dig in. I'd be very surprised if you're not hooked from Episode 2 at the latest :-)

I'll let you know, Ken, but I'm sure you're right. You and I rarely disagree on programmes.
Very unusual for me to actually look forward to something on TV, but I sure am to this finale.
naomi - if you're going to watch on iPlayer from the very beginning, be sure not to read any reviews of the final episode in tomorrow's newspapers, or click on any AB links !
I'm exactly the same naomi. I saw lken raving about it on here a few weeks ago and was looking for another program to watch so gave it a go. We watched the first 2 series and up to date of the third series I 2 weekends!
Some people have found that they need subtitles on as it's easy to miss parts of the dialogue.
I was just going to post the comment about subtitles. They were a big help to me.
I had this conversation with the mister, yesterday. Everybody is raving about how good it is? Where were all these people for the first 4 series?
This (last) season is the third, rocky

And if you can't manage that before 9pm tonight you'll have to hibernate and read nothing until you've finished, it'll be everywhere after 10pm tonight!

That's why i rarely trouble the religious threads, Zebo. I'm currently reading the bible and i don't want to know how it ends :-))
Loved Happy Valley from the get go. James Norton was brilliant all those years ago & I think because he's been locked up we haven't seen much of his evilness in this series. Still worth watching.
They're actually talking about it now on my local radio station. Just mentioned that while Sarah Lancashire is getting most of the plaudits, Siobhan Finneran (who plays her sister) is also absolutely brilliant, too. I totally agree. The scenes between the two sisters are some of the best throughout the entire series.
