Barmaid, you mentioned Alison, and I wondered why she has been in this series.
Catherine seems quite fond of her, so perhaps it's Alison that gets killed, accidentally and this is why Catherine is upset.
I read that Sarah Lancashire wasn't happy with the ending and said it didn't feel right so she got Sally Wainright to rewrite it and then Sarah and James Norton were then happy with the new ending.

It has been said (on Twitter) that the two-page spread in The Times was taken from Twitter posts after someone asked the exact same question as the OP here.

It was also said that the five different filmed endings is not true.
There is only one. All the cast and crew know what happens.

You might have a point, Barsel. Everything seems to have had a point so far. So Alison may have a big part in the ending. And she has killed once! I wonder if she kills TLR and dies doing so?

I think there may be a fire at some point in the final episode.

Isn’t Mallorca a massive “coincidence”? Tommy wants to star a new life with Ryan there, and Clare wants she and Catherine to go on a nice holiday there.

Cloverjo, I don't know if it was Mallorca or Marbella, not that it matters because as you say, Clare said Neil had a place there and this is where TLR was going with Ryan, so perhaps there is a connection with Neil. Can you remember whose idea it was for TLR to go there? Perhaps Neil has a place there where criminals can go but perhaps Clare doesn't know all the details about it?

I've never really given it any serious thought of who is connected to who but, there must be something in what you have said or is it like you also said, a coincidence?

They all meet up somehow in Marbella. Ryan is killed. Catherine cries and says “Why didn’t I tell him I loved him when he told me?” Instead of saying “What brought that on?”

Oh no, I hope it isn't Ryan. My only grandson is the image of Ryan. He's 16yrs old 6ft 3in plays in goal for his football team, identical hair. If Ryan gets killed, I'll be on the floor in hysterics.
