Watched last night. Its a brilliant film but yes it's harrowing!! Lots and lots of blood and guts. Dr Zhivago is like Mary Poppins in comparison! It brought tears to my eyes at the end. Rare for me.
as i think i said yesterday, it's an amazing film and im glad i watched it, but i wouldnt watch it again. I can appreciate it for how well it is made, but i generally watch films to be entertained, not harrowed
Sensible decision Barsel because most of the film is set on the battlefield or showing battlefield results. It certainly affected me. I wouldn't watch it again, even though its an amazing film.
I just feel pleased though that my grandfather was working in the Glasgow Shipyards as an engineer so avoided all this. I'm not sure why my other grandfather escaped call up. I've no one left now who can tell me.
Also harrowing for me was watching what the poor women were having to do!
