The police have said no offences have been committed, so the courts of rag journalism and social media have meted their versions of justice.
We thought we hadn't seen him for a while and were wondering. Glad his wife has lanced the boil.
Sad.
No doubt the terminally horrified will now be able to breathe a collective sigh of relief.
So, who thought they knew and got it right ? Be honest now.
Well this story is closed.
No criminal offences committed and the saddo gossip mongers and tittle tattlers will sleep tight tonight knowing they were right or wrong in their presumptions. My concerns are the Met have it 100% correct in their deliberations this time and ‘mental issues’ has not been used as a default get out of gaol card to excuse his unusual behaviour as often the case
My daughter knew, but I didn't believe her.
I don’t watch enough television to know many presenters. I just waited until the news was released.
I'm lost for words.
it's not just the Met who have cleared him, South Wales police had already done so. The Sun decided they knew better anyway.
Jeremy Vine confirmed it this morning by talking about the presenter having mental issues.....and HE hadn't appeared since KCIII's meeting with the Stone of Scone and the 'fragile' Macbethian crown jewels up there in Edinburgh.
Retro, I believe the investigation is ongoing and it's possible there may be offences committed, so we will have to wait and see, but I don't think the story is closed.
Poor man, I feel sad for him. No doubt the world will now pick his life to pieces, harass his family & just keep adding salt to the wound.
Given public sympathy, LK, he may just avoid that. Bet the PR men for the Beeb, HE and Rupee's rag are in overdrive at the moment.....
He was my favourite presenter, it's hard to believe it was him.
I hope he and his family get all the help and support they need.
Indeed it will, LiK. I wonder who’s the more sad?
I dont feel sad for him. He might not have done anything illegal, but he was a pillar of society reporting on all of our most important national events, meanwhile he’s being messing around with young people and it all brings the Beeb into disrepute.
Someone my daughter works with suggested Huw Edwards and the rest of the office said No, never him. Just goes to show doesn't it?

I feel sad to learn this news. I hope he can now receive the necessary treatment for his serious mental issue. He has suffered from serious depression for some years. I hope his wife and children get the privacy they have requested.
