A transgender footballer whose physical power on the pitch left opponents 'terrified' is considering taking legal action for discrimination after opposing teams refused to play against them.

The boycott is said to have followed a player suffering a broken knee when 'blocking a shot' from the trans player Francesca Needham, 30.

Discrimination?  How?  This person is a man playing in a woman's team.  Isn't it time sports governing bodies put a stop to this on-going nonsense once and for all by making a positive decision right now to ban these second-rate sportsmen - who if competing against men would be nothing more than also-rans - from women's sports altogether?

Good.I'd like to see women take this boycotting action whenever a faux-woman competes. If all the American women swimmers refused to swim against 'Lia' Thomas, the nonsense of allowing 'her' to compete against proper women would stop immediately.

Nah, the lionesses just need to bulk up a bit. 😂

unlikely. a strong player gives the team a competitive edge they won't want to lose. their competitors will either have to train harder or field their own "strong player". the ultimate (and perhaps inevitable) conclusion of this process is that there will just be "sport", in which there will be no gender segregation or boundaries.

In that case sport that requires strength in any area will, for women, be no more.  If the prospect of them winning becomes remote - which if competing against men is inevitable - it won't be worth their effort to train or to compete.

so women won't play against a team with a strapping 6ft bloke in it? Over to Hugh....

So a bloke who likes to play football but is carp against men has discovered that society is now so radio rental that they'll let him play in a girls team as long as he pretends to be one. Right oh!

10:18, if so then it will just be teams of blokes pretending to be women against other teams of blokes pretending to be women. Women's sport will die.

There are a lot of very strong women around who also do what used to called men's jobs.  Should they be banned from women's teams too.  Just a thought.  Perhaps mixed teams and tests for strength along with ability? Only musing.  I was just thinking about my horrors having to play hockey at school and some of the really tough butch girls.  I ended up with a blood clot on my shin for a year!!

countrylover: "

"There are a lot of very strong women around who also do what used to called men's jobs.  Should they be banned from women's teams too.  Just a thought." - No ridiculous notion, they are legit women and would tend to become rigby players rather than footballers anyway. Even so called "stronger" women are not comparable to men.

Most of men's sport does not actually prevent women from playing if they are good enough, they hardly ever are.

Ttt.  I said I was only musing.  It was obvious I was not being serious.  However some women's strength is stronger than some mens.

For God's  sake lighten up!

Good.

yes bang on DD, they should all start refusing to play against men then perhaps this madness will end. The next generation will look back on this period with comedic reverance.

//the ultimate (and perhaps inevitable) conclusion of this process is that there will just be "sport", in which there will be no gender segregation or boundaries.// erm so don't have women only teams, let's have a mashup of mixed together, then watch the injuries or worse, and man pretending to be a women is still a man, it's not equality, its politics.

fender that would never happen, it would all be blokes against blokes. The only sensible way is how it always has been. If you have a Y chromosone you cannot compete in women's sport, end of.

"For God's  sake lighten up!"

take a does of your own medicine ...you got a prefectly reasonable answer but act like a snowflake and get triggered...

Torra i know, i was making light of a pathetic situation that has been allowed to happen in the first place, have trans only teams, male to female and vice versa, still watch the injuries happen, it's ludicrous and people are to politically correct to say it or fear of abuse vitriol.

I've felt that for some time fender.

The vast majority of normal thinking people know it is an an absurdity for 'Lia' Thomas to compete against proper women, so I have absolutely no doubt the majority of NCAA officials know its wrong, but I also have no doubt they are just simply too scared to speak-out.

Yes Naomi, I agree entirely.

"I was just thinking about my horrors having to play hockey at school and some of the really tough butch girls.  I ended up with a blood clot on my shin for a year!!"

But that's because of the game, not the people playing it. My games master introduced hockey one year, part way through the football season. By the end of the third week there so many boys injured (one of whom was me) and unable to participate in any game - be it football or hockey -  that the idea was abandoned.

Hockey is a ridiculous game, especially among young boys (and probably girls, "butch" or not). To arm them with what amounts to a shillelagh and expect them to show restraint in a competitive game is like asking bears to use public conveniences as their ablutions.

If a team in say the Under-14 league played a 21-year-old player there would be an outcry.

Is the OP not the same sort of cheating ?

Bwr.  I know your opinion of me. Thanks yet again.
