Have you forgotten about the thread you posted in last Friday?
"Uk Now The World's 4Th Largest Exporter"

The UK's goods trading figures are the worst of the G7 group. (It's only services that are better):

Little odds. One by one the doom prophecies fall.
Besides most of the G7 isn't coping with EU malice; plus it takes time for a reorg to settle and show worth on the balance sheet. Meanwhile what has been gained so far is worth it anyway. Although we all know things are still unsettled; NI border with the rest of the UK for one.
And yeah, it has been posted before,
YOUNGMAFBOG, if you bothered to read what I asked, it was about a thread TORATORATORA posted IN, not one that he started.
From the OBR,
"Growth in UK goods trade (exports plus imports) has fallen well behind the rest of the G7. At the end of 2023, UK goods trade was around 10 per cent below 2019 levels, while it was around 5 higher on average for the rest of the G7 in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, UK services trade growth has been the strongest in the G7. It reached around 12 per cent above 2019 levels at the end of 2023, versus around 9 per cent above in the rest of the G7 in the third quarter."
Comparing the UK figures for goods with the rest of the G7, we're fifteen percentage points below them.
For services, the UK is only three percentage points higher than the rest of the G7.
It is welcome news and an indication of what could have been achieved without the dead hand of the lawyers and the lords. The Germans called the UK "Treasure Island" in a sly backhanded complimentary way whilst they gleefully plundered our economy. That is why Boris was hounded out by the eeyoo vassals that are embeded in our systems like the Russian soviet communist appointees. The FT and the OBR(office for budget resposibility), even the BoE, are all guilty of pining for their master in Brussels who have again shown this week that they will not tolerate a different viewpoint other than their own. We have almost been cheated out of our freedom and Starmer and the likes of Rayner will not allow it. They are commies at heart. Reform will be needed.
The links hopefully provided below are grown up material and should not be tackled by the low on comprehension or those with a short attention span. They do however allow an insight into the real intentions of some formerly trustworthy institutions that now appear to have been thoroughly corrupted by the EUSSR.
""The Financial Times has gone to great lengths to try to convince its readers that Brexit has been bad for UK trade, conflating EU and non-EU goods trade, ignoring service trade and never entertaining the possibility that any other government policies, such as Net Zero, may have been the real cause of certain industry groups seeing large falls in their exports. No, in the FT’s mind, all bad things must be due to Brexit.""

""For example, trade intensity measures both exports and imports. And the data shows when it comes to goods, both are lower. But this isn’t a result of lower UK consumption. Rather what we are witnessing is UK manufacturers capturing a larger share of domestic consumption.""

""
I wrote an article in March asking if the FT would ever get over Brexit. Their response seems to be a resounding ‘No’ as they have just released a 25-minute video entitled We need to talk about Brexit.
The FT chose to interview a Micro company with under 10 employees, a Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) and a beef farmer but not any of the UK’s major exporting companies. The UK’s largest exports are: Business services; Machinery and transport equipment; Financial Services; Travel; Chemicals; Telecoms, Computers and information services; Miscellaneous manufactures; Material manufactures; Insurance and pensions; and Fuels. So, should we be concerned with the issues of these three companies and are their complaints really Brexit related?""

Again, who cares how the total pans out, it is the total that counts not an individual sector. I know this doesnt paint your agenda in a good light but tought, facts are facts, the overall total is bigger.
So stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
"YOUNGMAFBOG, "who cares how the total pans out"
You clearly do because you go on to state, "it is the total that counts"
You appear to be more than a wee bit confused..."
I don't think youngmaf is confused at all. What about if he said "It doesn't matter what the total comprises - it's the total that counts."
The UK has a principally service-led economy. We cannot compete on manufactured goods because overseas companies have access to far cheaper labour than we do. That was realised decades ago. We also don't export many bananas or pineapples. Instead we export insurance and other financial serices (which, incidentally, are far easier to export). We concentrate on what we are good at in areas where we can successfully compete. And it's the total that counts.
