I tend to think not but they should be able to stop obvious drinks getting on.

I wonder how long they were sat in the plane before the flight? Could they have been necking their duty free on board?

They were delayed in the airport for 1 hour apparently but that's still no excuse. I am agaisnst some arbitrary limit as in a breathalyser but people who are clearly drunk should not be allowed to board.

10:54 the problem was apparently that they all wanted the loo at once and caused problems at take off etc.

Agree they shouldn't have drunk a lot before flying & maybe should have been denied boarding (but you can drink quite a lot of beer without seeming obviously drunk).

BUT with the flight delayed & desperately needing to pee what were they supposed to do - pee on the floor or just wet themselves? Don't think easyjet would have been too happy getting that plane back into service!

If the flight had taken off on time they could have used the loo in flight & there would have been no problem so it wasn't entirely the "yobs" fault.

I was on a delayed flight with my ex & she really needed to pee (no alcohol consumed) & the flight attendant wouldn't let her use the loo. She mangaged to hold on until we took off but it was a close run thing.

This problem would cease overnight if airports were prevented fro exploiting typical behaviour to make money.

Airports have bars because passengers who are waiting for flights will drink to pass the time, often to excess, leaving cabin crew to deal with drunken idiots in confined spaces with no back up. 

Shut the bars, problem solved. 

It's ridiculous that such volatile situations are facilitated purely for profit, with no thought for the inconvenience and safety of more responsible passengers and crews.

AH, I don't agree that the majority should be punished for a few idiots, normally neither do you. Just stop anyone remotely plastered boarding.

You don't need to be "plastered" to need the toilet.

Is there an over-riding technical reason why the plane's toilets cannot be used whilst on the ground? If there isn't it may just be a "jobsworth" situation.

A flight I was on to LA had to land unexpectedly at Salt Lake City and there we sat for three hours.  Yes, toilets can definitely be used when planes are on the ground.

TTT, I never understand that either.  The loo in the terminal is always my final stop before boarding.
