I read the books years ago and enjoyed them.  Whether the series is any good remains to be seen, but for anyone who likes a family saga it might fit the bill.

Quote (from the Sheffield Star, where they might possibly know a thing or two about life in Yorkshire):
"If this was shown to a class of Year Nine kids, they'd be laughing up their sleeves within the first five minutes"

I'm dubious and haven't watched it yet.  Reason - the remake of 'All Creatures Great and Small'.  I really dislike how they have imported modern mores and attitudes to much loved writing that did not need changing.  I watched the first couple of episodes and abandoned it. I suspect that the Hardacres will be equally 'modernised'.

It's not, jourdain. Worth a watch for you to decide for yourself.

I feel like you Jourdain. I didn't like the recent ACGandS at all. I suppose I was mentally comparing it to the original. I've nothing to compare this to but don't want to risk being disappointed I suppose.
