Being a Musician myself, it is quite frustrating to know that the public at large prefers a music based on the colour of the musician.I a white guy sings or rap as well as a black person, he is more favoured by the public. Jos Stone, J.Timberlake, Eminem & a host of others.
Another point abot X-factor is the panel of judges. How can you judge what you do not know about better still what you don't like. Three judges who happen to be white - does not look right somehow.
I also think it's something to do with the way music is marketed. Black and white people have vastly different tastes and most music companies have narrow minded marketing strategies aiming at the teeny bop market which no self respecting black kid would listen to!
There should be more of a mixture for the shows auditions and they should accept an equal amount of races with the judges also being a mixed panel. I think then that we'd see some very different results.
It's all about marketing combined with reality tv, it's a dreadful combo.
When it comes to these reality shows, the majority of the public who phone in to vote are young teenage girls, and if they cast more votes for the type of person they want to see win, then thats what happens.
Talent should not be about race, and I don't think it is. Lemar is a great example of this, came third, bided his time then realeased some excellent material which is respected by all races. I'm not sure Andy is in that catagory.
why does it always have to be a race thing ? does it affect you in anyway if the winner was black or white the fact that shane won and andy didn't probably was because the majority of people voting are young girls. and nothing to do with him being white.
why is the race card always played when someone who is white comes out on top
This is a fair question I think. How did Javine not make it into Girls Aloud, and how did Lemar not win Fame Academy. Anyone who thinks that the they did not win because they were not the most talented is clearly deaf - gammaray.
At the time I couldn't help thinking it was because a largely, if not intentionally, racist public had voted, but then I realised that the winners of these ****** competions tend to disappear quite quickly or they have a somewhat uncool image, and the clever people behind the show (record companies) realised that Lemar actually had a REAL talent, unlike the little scottish boy who's name I forget, and they doctored the results because wanted to market him in a different way. Basically they realised that they could make more money this way, marketing him as an 'urban' atrist, rather than Fame Academy Winner, giving him a longer career life expectancy.
I hope this IS the real answer, because it is not nice to think that the British public are still racist, although on a subconscious level I think this is inevitable.
this whole subject is way to deep for me, but in my opinion maria was a great singer a very beautiful, andy had a great voice but he had the same voice(no range) in all his songs and shane was a good singer/dancer and the young girls fancied him.
javine was too cool (miserable) for girls aloud and lemar was good, but again he was too cool and he never got the publics imagination cus he wasnt being the gushing thankful one!!
how come no one has mentioned one true voice, they were black and white and most of all cr*p!!
To be honest i think that the majority of intellegent people couldnt care about colour and certainly don't base their votes or what records they buy on this.
Andy was much better than shane in my eyes, but i didnt like shane because he was a bit of a tw*t rather than his talent. I voted for Andy and Journey South in the final, Does this make me racist against shane, even though i'm white?
With reference to justin timberlake, he came from a hugely succesful boyband so was always going to sell a heap of records, but what you seem to have missed is that the neptunes basically wrote his first album, so technically an african american and a chinese fella are to credit even though he's the face of it.
With Eminem, well he is white and he's a good artist. He is different, and im sure you'll find that many people of varied races bought his cd's not just white kids.
Plus, who really cares who wins X-factor, its a laugh and car crash tv. The fact that Will Young, Girls Aloud and Lemar are still around is that they managed to hold onto their audience.
American Idol has a black judge and i don't remember a black guy/girl winning that, does that mean they are all race obsessed too?
Simon Cowell has a bucket load of money and is world famous and succesful, i think he knows what he's doing to create the most short term profit from the winner, if they carry on selling, bonus! I think that if this wasnt just an exercise in making quick money they wouldnt have a new show every year would they?
Not being rude, but i think they have a little more experience and knowledge of the music business than yourself, they are looking for a product and they find that. If the 3 judges were black would that make a difference? Not really, they are looking for a POPstar not a musician. Theres a big chip that needs removal from your shoulder
ross25981 Get over yourself! I suspect the people you mentioned (I don't watch zoo TV i'm afraid) were voted for by a cross section of the general public. That said, they won, presumably, because they had mass appeal.
The point is that the original poster maintains that the whole country is racist because it appears "whites" always win these types of shows. This is of course total rubbish as we live in a multi racial and multi cultural society. Ergo, a cross section of votes will mean a cross section of cultures and races voting.
