Modern day Bedlam

i dont like reality shows but last night i was flicking and saw about 15 mins of Strictly Dance Fever (?) with Graham Norton. i could not drag my eyes off the dancers and felt as if i were intruding on something that should be private, not broadcast to the nation. So many of the dancers had personality problems, one or two looked totally mad and were beyond merely eccentric. They were living in a world where they thought they could dance well enough to appear on TV!! It was cringe making.We were invited to laugh at these poor people and i am ashamed to say i did.

Hi Lyn...I too tuned in and felt very uncomfortable watching it...so much so that I too turned off after about 15 minutes..

This is the cultural nadir we have reached, where deluded individuals are paraded before us to point at and laugh. As lynbrown says, it is indeed a modern Bedlam, and the BBC, public service broadcaster funded by licence fee payers should be thoroughly ashamed of itself. What ahppened to the notion that they were moving away from 'competing' with ITV and chasing ratings? What other escuse is there for this freak show?

People know what to expect from stuff like Pop idol and X factor and they still enter....Their mates have to be honest and so do the judges....no one got anywhere by not trying.
