The one that amuses me most is the Smiths offfering............"I was looking for a job and then I found a job....Heaven knows I'm miserable now"

MacArthur Park has to be in the running for some of the wierdest lyrics - is it really related to drugs or is that an urban myth?

Happy Good Friday peops...

Alibobs... i thought MacArthur Park was about a cake!!!

i think i'll choose....

MmmMmmMmmMmm by The Crash Test Dummies....

Mines Sit Down by James.....

"If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor"

Oh how true...........

"If dreams are like movies then memories are films about ghosts" from Mrs Potters Lullaby by Counting Crows

"I wanna be Jackie Onassis, I wanna wear a pair of dark sunglasses" Rage Against the Machine - Tire Me.

Perhaps not the world's BEST lyric, but a great use of rhyme and it makes me chuckle!

the line " the corpses brother wants to know what you would like to drink" is one that i havent heard in many songs . its in "the wake song by colm sands

" is she trying to get out of that clitoris? Liberation for women, thats what I preach(preacher man),walking on the beaches looking at the peaches"

Peaches by The Stranglers.

The opening line of It Must Be Love by Madness

"I never thought I'd miss you half as much as I do"

and a close second is from My Perfect Cousin by The Undertones

"His mother bought him a synthesizer, got the Human League in to advise her"

absolutely priceless.

From U2, Beautiful Day;

'What you don't have you don't need it now, What you don't know you can feel it somehow.

When you let me fall
Grew my own wings
Now Im as tall as the sky
When you let me drown
Grew gills and fins
Now Im as deep as the sea
When you let me die
My spirits free
Theres nothing challenging me

bit more than a line but hey!!

Starr's response is intriguing. My Perfect Cousin was released in April 1980, and The Human League didn't have their first hit til the following month. How do you explain that one?
Maybe you made a mistake Robertson because the Human League were formed in the late 70's
Indeed they were formed in the late 70's but not well-known til after their first hit in May 1980 - a month after My Perfect Cousin was released.
'Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose' from Me & Bobby McGee by Kris Kristofferson.

Mine is from Damien Rice Cannonball

Theres still a little bit of your taste in my mouth...

so soppy but hey, when this was out me and my boyfrind were spereated, and i sent him this song, and yeah hes all mushy too! we're back together now after a 10 month break up! yey x

from;woodstock by matthews southern comfort,

and I dreamed I saw the bombers riding shotgun in the sky , turning into butterflies above our nation

My all time favourite line is in Dexys Midnight Runners' Come On Eileen - "At this moment, you mean everything ..." perfection.
