Drilling wooden door for hook
Can anyone advise on what I need to do in order to put a hook on a wooden door? Do I drill the hole slightly smaller for a tight fit or do I fit a plug afterwards like you would in a wall?
I don't know how to secure the hook.
Many thanks!

On no account drill a big hole and put a plug in,a screw will go straight into wood.
If its a soft wood door like pine you should not need to drill a hole for a hook or screw unless it a whoping big one. If its a hard wood door like teak, oak, elm or a very old door you may need to drill a fine hole. to guide the screw/hook in. To choose the drill bit you can hold it up in front of the screw and you should clearly see the thread on either side if the drill bit. If you push the hook into the wood a little if it makes a clear mark it's likly to be softwood and no need to drill.
