Sometimes when I receive a text message I hear a funny 'stutery' noise coming through the tv,radio, computer etc. However, I still keep hearing this noise even when neither mobile phone in the household has received a message - why is this?

It's your mobile seaching for a signal from a transmitter....it happens when the nearest antenna has a large volume of calls and the signal strength to your phone drops it automatically looks for a stronger signal.
