Solomon & Gaenor . A Welsh film about the blossoming love between a young Jewish peddlar & a young Welsh girl. It was made back to back in English also. It`s a fantastic story & not all soppy.
Lots of contenders but one not mentioned is the Wages of Fear, a french movie form the 50's based in south america about a group of loners looking to get some cash to go home. A local company is looking for some drivers to transport nitro glycerin across dangerous terrain. These loners take the job on with dramatic and very suspenseful effects. A truly wonderful movie, both horrific and moving. It was also remade in the 70's as Sorcerer
Doh, how could I forget 'Lola Rennt' (Run Lola, Run). Fantastically original film and one that literally gets better throughout the film. A must see!

patc, your right about WOF,

Yves Montand, Peter Van Eyck, amongst others.
