I think if you have earnt your own money and can spend it, then it makes you feel better than taking off people. I hate when I get myself in a pickle with money and mum offers to help me out. Mum has never spoilt any of us but she would always help any of us siblings out if we need it, but I still hate to ask.
when i asked about work i didnt mean about making your own money or anything, just if you have something to focus on & something to do throughout the day. i think what you do plays a big part in happiness. i have worked in an office for 9 years & although its perfectly respectable, i am unhappy. its only now that i have realised i need something more rewarding that i am starting to feel lighter & better about myself. (same wages so money not an issue). it seems happiness comes from leading a full life & surrounding yourself with genuine people that you love- not what you have in the bank.
I am sure having, and making, a lot of money does bring happiness to people ~ whether they were poor or rich in the first place.
I was brought up amongst people who were very happy & never wished to be rich..and I am not just talking about my family, it was a community.
I just don't think that rich people are necessarily unhappy..it's a bit of a generalisation to say that they are unhappy deep down. Most people are happy as long as they have enough to pay the bills..and I don't consider them poor people.
It all depends on what your definaition of 'poor' is?
