What one person thinks is a great film may not be what another thinks. Many a time I`ve seen a "critic" give a film a lousy review/rating & I`ve really enjoyed it & vice versa. A brief synopsis is ok, but not when you get the whole damn story.
Ah yes Bee I agree with you. Generally I like to make up my own mind but sometimes you find a particular critic who's opinion you agree with and can use that as a guide. The reason for my query is that often alot of 'good' films are shown in the wee small hours so I'd like to know if one is worth recording to watch at a more civilised time!
you guys are too right, most of the critics wouldnt know a decent film if it kicked them in the face, especially the ones who write for newspapers, they just go with what they think their target audience would like.
When you go to the cinema, ask the guys selling tickets. I worked at a chain cinema for 3 and a half years and trust me, they love giving advice. Make sure you dont ask a 17yr old chav for his opinion on films like MIllion Dollar Baby though!
Oh or go to www.flixster.com
if you sign up you can rate films yourself and get other peoples ratings, this is good cos you can find someone with similar interests and see what they thought
