The Best Twist In Movies
25 Answers
Following on from the poll of least liked films...what do AB'ers consider the best 'twist' in any movie?
Personally, my favourite is the final 20 minutes of a film that practically NO-ONE I know has seen. It's a John Cusack/Ray Liotta film from 2003.
I won't give the game away, but when the twist happens, I had to rewind the DVD to watch it all again.
Definition of a perfect twist: you didn't guess it, and you felt a fool for not seeing it coming.
Please try not to give twists away for AB'ers who might want to see the film in question.

(1) I had only vaguely heard about the film
(2) I had no idea that it was going to / supposed to have a twist in it
(3) I wasn't expecting it at all.
It was only some time after I saw the film for the first time that I discoverd that
(1) The director is famous for putting twists in his films
(2) The twist at the end is famous
(3) Lots of people have had their enjoyment of it spoilt because people have told them in advance about the twist.

Sorry...yes, the film I was talking about is indeed Identity.
I think I'm pretty good at predicting twists, but I absolutely and totally got fooled by that one.
To me, a good twist is like a magician's trick...you think you're seeing one thing, when in fact it's all sleight of hand.
I have to admit, I clocked the twist in The Others before I even saw the film. Same way with The Village.
...but the so-called twist in Flight Plan just annoyed the hell out of me.
It just seemed like...like...cheating. Those who've seen it will know what I'm talking about.

I've seen Flightplan but it made so little impact on me I've forgotten what the twist was, or that it even had a twist!
I'm the opposite, I rarely ever see twists coming so 9 times out of 10 I'm genuinely surprised. I'm glad I'm not one of these "I saw that coming" people!
Was there a twist in Signs?
