hammerman, I agree with you about hard labour and making jails much harder on the criminals. I know that those who have been in jail will say it is already very hard. But is it hard enough to deter people from committing crimes? I don't think so! I do think though that those who physically harm others should be treated far more harshly than those who have 'only' caused material damage. Nox lumos has in many threads shown that some people who have committed crimes in the past can change and I do have great respect for him because of that. But still, when it comes to crimes of violence, I think the sentencing should be far harder than it is today.
Ummmm, look how strong you are! !! (big hug!) I know how hard admitting to having been a victim of paedophilia is. And yes, it does often take many years to find that strength. I wish I had been able to tell my parents as a child, but never did until I was dying of cancer at the age of 38. As you can see I made it though all that. Now in my 50s I am a very happy and positive person. But the nightmare still haunts me every so often. It is a life sentence and I think this is what the paedophiles should get, but in bare cells with no comforts at all and doing hard labour during the day! And a life sentence should mean life - should mean to the end of their life! Instead these vile paedophiles are given more luxurious accommodation than anyone else in prison! WHY??? They are the lowest of the low and should be treated accordingly! But would I want the death sentence for them? No, that is too quick!
