I believe you are throwing your money away, my friend's dad had a ZR and the engine ceased and he had to have it scrapped. Your choice though, not likely to hold its value, if i were you i'd look at a German equivalent.

Having recently experienced ownership ofa TF 2004...
HEADGASKET WENT AT 25K Miles; many of them do.

Just sold our MGZR Turbo diesel, 2004 25K miles also strangely, numerous problems including SEATS, BODYWORK And Best of all power steering failure, two separate problems.

I would steer well clear, unless you can find a RELIABLE warranty company!!
I have to mention our cars were selected because of their glowing service history!
What about a baby AUDI eg an A3!
Put your money into something a bit better! My passat has done 104k miles and not missed a beat, just having one wheel bearing on top of its regular services(2001 1.8t)
Volks/Audi -great, the 1.8T being one of the best 4 cyl petrol engines available!!
lotas elise !!!! pretty, agile, bags of fun!!! or an mgb, old but stylish.(and easy to repair)

Thanks for your replies, looks like it's a no then.
Go with vag mate. They are the best second hand car to buy. And thats official by the way. Depending on your age you could get a cracking G60 or a very nice VR6 like a corrado. If your money wont stretch and your insurance is going to be high you could try going for a 16v mk2 golf gti. Oh buy the way if you buy a car thats older than 12yrs then you can get classic insurance. Ive got an 8V golf gti thats coming up for 23yrs old and im only paying 100 quid fully comp. Hope this helps mate.
