Not in my back yard......!
what's your pet hate in the garden? (apart from cat poo that is)
or any funny stories?
I hate yukkas - horrible things. I don't understand why they're popular & I cut my arm on one last year simply walking past it....
...and those walls made entirely from decorative screen blocks which became popular in the 70s, ugh!....
sorry if I've now alienated all gardeners on here!
I've never forgotten that once on gardeners question time a guest was advised to prune her ground cover roses to 6 inches above the ground. When Bob Flowerdew gave his answer he said he'd prefer them all to be pruned 6 inches below the ground .... :o)

I'll probably think of a few more while I'm out walking the dog. All the best Tbird+
Ps not that theirs anything wrong with the latter, its just an image I get from the 60s

Pipped to the post by lizwizz - was also going to say Pampas Grass - never ever liked it!
People who paint their fences & trellis in that reddish colour, only for it to eventually wash off in the rain & looking even worse!
I agree with you about those awful 70's decorative screen blocks Robinia - they are so naff!!
I'm also with Thunderbird on the silly garden gnomes & ornaments that people have the audacity to paint bright primary colours, thinking other people might look & say "Ah, aren't they lovely" - when in fact they just want to make you puke!

I have a neighbour who puts out ranks of summer bedding round his square lawn as if it's a military operation ..he uses a ruler to make sure his impatiens and begonias and whatnot are the correct distance apart. It looks like a municipal park when it's in bloom. All too neat and fussy. Don't like marigolds or those horrible blue glazed pots and those coloured stone chippings .
thanks all...
I'm surprised how there are still lots of gardens with huge pampas clumps in the middle of their front gardens.
Tbird I'm still laughing at your answer but I'm amazed you haven't been lynched by smudge & shaney ....for some of us (ahem!) tea bags & hairnets are a way of life....
oops, take cover fellas
they're just sentimental & not plastic & after the photoshoot they were camouflaged in the flower border.... they were my youngest's when he was small.....honest!

Ha, ha, ha, Robinia - just arranging me hairnet before taking the knitted cosy off the teapot!!!!
We have a neighbour like that Shaney! I swear he thinks he's still in the Army & lines up all his plants ready for role call!
Any signs of stray Marigolds are soon uprooted from our garden too!
Can't stand decking either, 'specially when people put fancy bannisters/balustrades around it! Very chavvy & slippery in the wet, so not suitable for O.A.P.'s!!!!
Back to 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' - wishful thinking!

Hi all, Never mind Tbird, they're just taking the P... out of you. You'll no doubt get your own back ha ha!!! My pet hates are flowers etc all in lines and regimented and look as if they should salute to anyone who dare enter the garden, and of course the dreaded gnomes. Give me the wild look any day. Considering I live on the edge of the Solway Firth things can get pretty wild at times - and that includes me!!!!
Ha, ha, neither has this, but it's good to laugh!
