Shari Lewis and her sock puppet Lamb Chop was definitely on tv in the UK.

Oh yay thankyou. thought i was going a bit insane.
I can vouch for this, as I remember it clearly, and have never been to the US in my life! Shari Lewis (Lambchop's "handler") came to Britain in the late 60s and made several series of her show for the BBC between then and the mid 70s.

although, i was born in the 90's...
it must've been re-runs of something. or it mightve been VHS.
"Lamb Chop's Play Along" was broadcast by BSkyB in the late 90's so it could have been that you seen.
She was always on the David Nixon show as a regular guest every week, and she did alot of Royal varieties too.
She used Topo Gigo then too, is that the right spelling?
I thought Topo Gigio was a completely different act?
I love Topo too - but as already mentioned, that was totally different from Lamb Chop

Happy Easter
I remembe watching Lamb Chop when I was young.
I now have two th eldest of whom is now 14.When she was 2 or 3,which wouls be 1994/5,for Christmas my sister bought her a Lamb Chop hand puppet. It always puzzled me why a Lamb Chop puppet would be made at that time.Shari Lewis was still making shows with Lamb Chop at this point (she died in 1998) but I'm certain they hadn't been on TV in the UK for a long time before then.

I want a Lamb Chop puppet, any ideas where you can get them?!
Simply attach 2 brown smarties to an old sock and voila!!
They were often on the Val Doonican show in the 70's and 80's.:-D
Thank you, Osprey, for giving me the biggest laugh of the week so far. Though surely a white woolly sock would be more apt. By the way, Shari's act is now being done by her daughter.
We watched it on Sky.
Shani Wallis was also in the film 'Oliver' as Nancy.
Sorry, silly mistake, I must be overtired.
