Yesterday I was clearing a patch of garden that had been used as a rubbish dump . there was a lot of old carpet and melamine/chipboard rotting away nicely.
I moved the carpet and some melamine and found 3 frogs(or possibly toads -dunno how to tell properly) .They were mightily disgruntled but slowly moved away from the light.
When they moved I saw a patch(heap?) of ...um...' stuff' left behind. It was black and shiny and looked a bit like caviare .I was very sticky and the leg of one of the frogs got caught in it -I had to free the leg with a stick to prize the stuff off.
When I moved some other things I found another patch. I dont think its snail or slug eggs as it is black and in a mass while snail eggs Ive seen tended to be whitish and single (although in a group). I'd love to take some and see what happens but t'other half just says "Quatermass"....
Thanks for the reply but its definitely not frog spawn. We have that in the ponds.
This stuff is small and tightly clustered ,very sticky and found on land.
