I don't think anyone is in the mood for disaster movies right now. I know the Sylvester Stallone film Daylight, which has a trapped citizens story, was pulled from ITV1's schedule last week. Sky's movie programming was virtually gutted, over 30 films dropped in a single week. Titles such as the Gulf War satire Three Kings, and the traffic control thriller Pushing Tin were deemed to sensitive. I don't think anyone will want to watch Independence Day in a hurry - remember the cheers that greeted aliens vapourising the White House? And what about the out-of-control helicopter that crashed into a skyscraper in The Matrix? Perhaps it's time for Hollywood to stop churning out movies such as True Lies, Indpendence Day, Speed, Godzilla, Armageddon and Pearl Harbor.
