I was one who on the stroke of 10pm switched over to the BBC News.

For days now I have been sick to my back teeth with the over the top advertising of the forthcoming return of News at Ten.

I am fedup with the gong of Big Ben, I am fedup with the quick flashes of the clock's dial during commercials, I am fedup with that supercilious Trevor Mcdonald, and as for " we will be in people's home at that time of day" Julie Etchingham? Of course you will my dear, just as Sky News is in our homes 24/7.

It is just another News programme, just because it is on at 10pm, doesn't make it any more special. Doesn't their exaggerated sense of self-importance realise this fact?

I for one will not be tuning in to ITV's News at Ten.

For what it's worth AOG neither will I. I much prefer the BBC or Chanel 4 news anyway.

Perhaps we'll start a trend.

I like Trevor McDonald. I just prefer the ITV news in general anyway.

Trevor McDonald seems like a really nice man but he's a dreadful news anchor. Absolutely painfully dull - and his journalistic skills were badly exposed in Tonight With Trevor McDonald.

ITN news cannot compete with BBC news. It's cheap and populist and weighed down with the kind of human interest stories you'd find in Take a Break magazine.

And I agree with AOG. It's just another news programme. God knows why ITV are making such a song and dance about it.

At the end of the day no one has better news than anyone else....why should itv be more special I have to agree.
